Expert care for nature's warmest insulation.
Shearling (Sheepskin) is unique because it is a single hide with the wool still attached. It requires a delicate balance: the leather skin needs conditioning to prevent cracking, while the wool fleece needs careful cleaning to remove odors and restore fluffiness without matting.
The "Double-Action" Process
We use a specialized cleaning method designed specifically for sheepskin. We deep clean and condition the outer skin (whether suede or napa finish) while gently cleansing and sanitizing the inner wool to remove perspiration and smoke odors.
📦 Round-Trip Shipping is Included!
The price includes a pre-paid shipping label to send your heavy winter gear to us, and insured return shipping back to your door.
Which option should I choose?
The "Sleeve vs. Body" Rule:
Lay your item flat and compare the length of the sleeves to the length of the body.
- Standard Jacket: The Sleeves are longer than the body. (B-3 Bombers, Aviator Jackets).
- Long Coat: The Body is longer than the sleeves. (Full-length Shearling Coats, Ranchers).
What Is Included?
- Skin Conditioning: Essential oil replenishment to keep the outer hide soft and prevent the dreaded "dry rot" or stiffness.
- Wool Fluffing: We mechanically groom the wool fleece to lift matted areas and remove trapped debris.
- Odor Removal: Shearling traps odors easily. Our process neutralizes smells from smoke, mildew, and storage.
- Stain Treatment: Targeted work on collar rings and cuff grime.
📸 Not sure about the condition? Get a Free Assessment.
Vintage shearling can be fragile. If you have an older jacket or specific stains, snap a picture and email it to us before you order. Our experts will assess the skin strength and give you an honest prediction of the results.
Common Questions:
Will the wool look like new?
We can significantly improve it. We clean and fluff the wool to remove the "dingy" look. However, natural yellowing of white wool (oxidation) due to age is often permanent, though cleaning helps brighten the overall appearance.
Is it safe for vintage coats?
We handle vintage items daily. However, if the skin has "dry rot" (it tears like paper), it cannot be cleaned. If you are unsure, please use our Free Assessment photo service above!
